Team Wythenshawe made their presence felt at the British Transplant Games last weekend with a fantastic total of 23 medals (9 Gold, 8 Silver and 6 Bronze)
68 year old Bill Noble who had his heart transplant 8 years ago was our teams stand -out performance. He won 6 gold for swimming. At the glitzy gala dinner he was awarded with the Super Veteran of the games and also Heart Transplant athlete of the games. He said
“This is my 7th British Transplant Games since receiving a heart transplant in April 2007, at the age of 60. My sport is swimming, but I had been unable to swim for about forty years because of a congenital heart defect; I used swimming as part of my rehabilitation programme. However, because it rekindled the competitive spirit in me I decided to enter the Transplant Games. This year was my best year taking gold medals in all my individual events plus an additional gold in the relay.”
